Tent Peak, also known as Tharpu Chuli, is a great ‘Trekking Peak’ option in the Annapurna region. Perfect for those looking to step up from trekking to mountaineering, whilst showcasing the best of what the Himalaya has to offer. The route winds through fertile farmland and lush forest, before ascending to Mt Annapurna Base Camp and then on to Tent Peak. From the summit, you will be rewarded by outstanding views across the Annapurna Massif, including Annapurna South and the Fishtail Machhpuchre, which many believe is one of the best in the Himalaya.

Itinerary

Day 1: Meet in Pokhara and drive to Kimche, trek to Chhomrong

Day 2: Trek to Dovan

Day 3: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp (4,100m)

Day 4: Acclimatisation day

Day 5: Cross glacier to Tent Peak Base Camp

Day 6: Trek to High Camp (5200m)

Day 7: Instruction + acclimatisation day

Day 8: Summit and return to Tent Peak Base Camp

Day 9: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp

Day 10: Trek to Sinuwa

Day 11: Trek to Jhinu Danda and visit hot springs

Day 12: Trek to Kimche and return to Pokhara

What’s Included

  • All meals during trek (breakfast, lunch and dinner) served in local teahouses or prepared on stove while camping. 
  • Lunch in roadside restaurants during journeys to and from Pokhara
  • Boiled and filtered drinking water throughout
  • All accommodation during trek (local teahouses and camping)
  • Return journey to Kimche by tourist bus or jeep
  • An experienced, English-speaking and government-licensed Sherpa climbing guide and, dependant on size, assistant guide (guide to climber ratio 1:5)
  • Porters (carrying a maximum of 12kg baggage per trekker)
  • All staff costs (including salary, insurance, equipment, food and accommodation)
  • Rental of down sleeping bag
  • Rental of camping equipment (tent and ground mat)

Physical condition and prior experience

You need to be in reasonable physical condition to join this trip. You will be required to walk up to 5-6 hours per day whilst carrying a small day pack. 

Basic climbing / mountaineering experience is beneficial but not necessary as training will be provided, to include:

  • Basic ice and rock climbing techniques
  • Use of crampons
  • Rope management 
  • Ascending and descending on fixed ropes
  • Introduction to safe glacier travel
